AGM RESULTS

Members of Chew Valley Chamber of Commerce have given their enthusiastic backing to the President and Vice President and unanimously re-elected them at the Annual General Meeting held in the Queen’s Arms in Chew Magna. Ian Bell continues as Secretary and Press Officer.

Rod Podger, of the accountancy company, Underwood Lamb, says he would like to mark his third year as President by building on the work the Chamber has already done to forge close links with Chew Valley School.

“For some years we have provided sponsorship support for the school’s annual awards and provided a prize for entrepreneurship. Now, through the efforts of Geoff Taylor, from Winford Ford, we are increasing our connection and will be looking at ways in which we can help students prepare themselves for the world of work. It will be good for the young people and for local businesses who are looking for staff,” said Rod.

Vice President, Sandy Bell, from the communication consultancy, Tintinna Ltd, said her priority was to help raise the profile of the Chamber and to increase the number of member companies.

“The Chamber has been around in the Chew Valley for the last 15 years and it has provided a much valued forum for business people to meet up, to discuss topics of concern, to make friends and socialise. We will certainly continue to play that role, but we are always open to new ideas so we will be exploring fresh ways in which we can do things,” said Sandy.

Any businesses operating in the Chew Valley are welcome to join their local chamber, which costs just £12 per year. More information at
