PRESIDENT RE-ELECTED

There’s never a better time to join a Chamber of Commerce than when economic times are tough. That was the message from Chew Valley Chamber President, Jim King, addressing members at the Annual General Meeting at which he was re-elected for another year.

“We offer excellent opportunities for networking and provide useful support and information which is particularly valuable for businesses when things are difficult,” said Mr King.

The meeting, which was held at the Queen’s Arms in Chew Magna, reflected on activities over the last 12 months, which included a briefing from Bath and North East Somerset Cabinet Member, Councillor Malcolm Hanney, as well as a question and answer session with Inspector Tim Stuckes, the man in charge of policing the Keynsham and Chew Valley area.

A range of speakers will be invited to meetings during the year, including representatives from Radco, Yeo Valley and the Soil Association.

“Another highlight of the year was the award of the Chamber prize for entrepreneurial effort by a student at Chew Valley School. We were pleased to sponsor the event and have agreed to do so for the next four years. It’s a positive way in which we can encourage young people to take an interest in business,” added Mr King.
